Key traits to good writing

When blogging for businesses, good, compelling writing is key to keeping your readers interested and involved. I saw this infographic on www.ttms.org and just had to print it out and post it to my "ideas" wall in my office.
Every point drives home what writers should be doing when they pen articles, books, blogs, etc.
I like to write every chance I get. Sometimes I will go to a park or restaurant by myself just to be alone with my thoughts and come up with blog topics or stories for newsletters. Seeing this infographic inspired me to be a better writer. I hope it inspires you, too.

Different ways to blog

A plethora of blogs exist today, but not all of them are articles or stories in the written form. Blogs have taken on new identities of sort and become much more in this fast-paced world we live in today.
I have started using infographics, such as the one I made to the left, to tell my stories and offer tips, as well as using video blogs to capture someone's attention. These forms are more appealing to viewers than reading a bunch of words. The videos are engaging and are a decent length.
Time is a factor when it comes to keeping a reader/viewer. I am working to try and make 30 second video blogs so people don't get bored. Everyone is busy and only looking for brief content. Not many have, or will take the time to read full article on a subject, even if it is interesting and well written.
Times are changing and so should our blogs. Check out the few video blogs and the infographics I have posted. Let me know what you think! Thanks and keep on blogging!

Blogging can happen anywhere

In this day and age, content gathering is on the move. Almost everyone has some form of technological communication available to them, whether it be a smartphone, a tablet, a laptop or whatever ... so traveling is the optimal opportunity to be connected.
Find a Wi-Fi spot or use a small amount of your mobile data, and you can create a post or status update or upload a few photos to Instagram right where you are.
I have found that being mobile actually aids my blogging because there are so many relevant ideas out there just waiting to be captured.
Recently I found myself out and about around town doing errands for work. I had to stop by Muskogee Inn to drop off some items and while I was talking with the staff there, they were telling me all about the different things they offer at the hotel, free Wi-Fi being one of them. So what did I do? I pulled out my phone and connected to their Wi-Fi of course!
They also said if I had any business to take care of, they have a business station set up for all my needs. That's when I realized that almost anywhere you go, you can be blogging, posting, Facebooking, whatever. There are tons of ideas out there just waiting to be discovered. So get out there and start blogging about them!

Entertainment and music for the soul ... concert season in full swing. Find out who is performing, book hotels and more

It’s concert season, and that means it’s time to strap on your boots — or flip flops, sneakers, high heels, whichever you prefer — and get on down to the amphitheater at Wind Creek Casino in Atmore, Ala.
With no bad seat in the house, the amphitheater at Wind Creek seats about 2,500 in the stadium-style outdoor arena, with standing room access as well.
Upcoming events include Maze, featuring Frankie Beverly at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 16. Tickets are available now at ticketmaster.com. And don’t forget Earth, Wind and Fire, who are performing at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the amphitheater. Be sure to get your tickets now before they sell out!
If you will be traveling down South for the concerts and need a place to stay, Muskogee Inn has a room with your name on it. And the best part? Muskogee Inn is only 1/8 of a mile from the casino and amphitheater AND offers free, 24-hour shuttle service to and from the entertainment venue. A budget-conscious hotel, Muskogee Inn is directly off I-65 at exit 57 in Atmore and offers a wide range of amenities, including free breakfast from 5 to 10 a.m., free Wi-fi Internet access, a pool and much more. You can’t beat that … and it’s all near the entertainment options so you don’t have to go far at all!
However, if Atmore is a bit long distance for you, concerts also are happening at Wind Creek Casino Wetumpka. Maze, featuring Frankie Beverly, will be there at 8 p.m. Friday, May 15, so if you can’t attend the Atmore show, drive on over to Wetumpka instead! Also performing in Wetumpka are the Isley Brothers, featuring Ronald and Ernie Isley. They will take the stage at 8 p.m. Saturday,
June 20.

Billy Currington performed April 25 in Atmore and Trace Adkins was in Wetumpka on April 10. If you missed them, don’t worry; more national acts are on the way, so be sure to grab your dancing shoes, purchase your tickets and jump in the car for a toe-tappin’ good time this summer!
